Update: one ferret missing in Rowlands Castle

Hello neighbours. We really need your help to found out son’s missing ferret. Cheddar is light sandy coloured with dark eyes and a very light mask around his eyes. He’s small and will fit in two palms, curled up and bounds rather than walks.
Please report any sighting to Anita on 07952882201 or Dave on 07792832685.
Honey and Cheddar both escaped on Thursday 10th April. Honey returned home – we suspect after my son spent considerable time with a squeaky toy in the garden. Cheddar usually ignores the squeaky toys but will be familiar with the sound so may respond, especially as he’ll be hungry and thirsty.
Last time they escaped both were found – Honey had been missing for 10 days, but he was incredibly weak and had lost a lot of weight. It was last May so warm weather and he was found under a shed in a garden backing onto the thicket. He was spotted by a neighbour looking out of their upstairs window late morning. Dusk and Dawn are good times to look but they will come out at other times for food and water.
We back into Redhill Road and live near the Copse so he could have gone into and along gardens backing on to either of those. They can squeeze through as holes as small.as 1.5″. He’s unlikely to have gone very far so could be anywhere on the Charles Church Estate. If he crossed a road he may have gone further afield across to the thicket, onto the oaklands estate or by the school or even Castle Road if he went through the Copse and along gardens.
He may be under or inside a shed or other outside building, under tarpaulin or pots. Anywhere dry, safe and warm at night. They don’t tolerate the heat well hot so it’ll be in the shade.
Please consider putting some water in a small bowl outside – there’s been little rain so no standing puddles to drink from. They have very fast metabolism so need to eat every few hours. If you’re wondering they eat kibble, raw meat, or cooked chicken cut into tiny cubes as they can choke easily. They like digging in loose dirt.
He is friendly, doesn’t bite when handled gently with clean (food free hands). Don’t be afraid to pick him up and put him somewhere safe in a cardboard box with small air holes.
Even if you’ve already looked, please keep checking your gardens and keep an eye out when out and about across the thicket, copse or other open areas.
Thank you for reading. We really appreciate your help and hope he will be found as his brother and owner are missing him very much. Anita _______________________________________________ Grapevine mailing list: info@rowlandscastle.com
