u3a Meeting on Monday 16th September

The next monthly u3a Meeting will be held as usual, following the summer break, at 2.00 pm in the Parish Hall.

Our speaker this month is Dr Ian Goodall who is the retired Principal of a Senior High School and has a first class Honours Degree from Queen’s University and a PhD from the University of Glasgow. Dr Goodall’s talk is entitled The Invention of DNA Fingerprinting by English Professor Alec Jeffery in 1984 and explains how the technique was first used to trap a double murderer and rapist in a small English village.

Several of the high profile cases involving DNA fingerprinting are described including the O J Simpson case and the deaths of the Russian Royal Family in 1917.

New members welcome to join us on the day,
