The next Rowlands Castle u3a Monthly meeting will be held on Monday 16th October at 2.00 pm in the Parish Hall. Our speaker will be Patrick Pead, retired scientist and author who will be presenting his talk entitled ‘The Farmer’s Stocking Needle’ the story of how vaccination began. Patrick’s illustrated talk encompasses man’s early quest for immunity to infection and reveals that 24 years of study and research has unmasked the full story of the origins of vaccination to give us a fresh perspective, it also highlights the growing recognition for a little known figure of the past, a humble farmer whose homespun ingenuity is worthy of celebration.
