Villagers, businesses and community groups excelled once again with this year’s scarecrow trail, themed on Books & Comic characters!

There were 29 in all, with older classics like Moby Dick & Captain Ahab, Matilda and Garfield along with newer favourites such as Mildred Hubble, Wally and Dogman, plus a handful of tricky ones that got families pondering! With hundreds of maps sold over the half-term, families & friends once again set off in search of scarecrows and then guessing who they all were. It’s been lovely to see everyone out & about, despite the rather wet weather, admiring the talented & creative scarecrow makers we have in our midst!
As in previous years, we were very fortunate to have the support from community partners to help make the event as successful as it is, so a huge shout out to them.
* Halls Garage, Home Hardware, Rowlands Castle Pharmacy, The Castle Inn, Style Studio, Bumblebee Cafe, Physio-logical and Property Puzzlers.
To round off the event again, we held a prize-giving/social at The Robin Hood on Sunday. There was a great turn out with the pub full to congratulate the winners and villagers got to meet people behind some of the scarecrow creations! A few of the smaller scarecrows made an appearance and joined in the festivities too.
Here are the Top 3 in each category, congratulations!
