Rowlands Castle Village Poppy Collection 2023

Hello All
A timely reminder that Remembrance Sunday, 12th November, is rapidly approaching and as is the custom this will be preceded by the Royal British Legion National Poppy Appeal. The ‘Poppy Collection’ as it is popularly known is an annual appeal by the Royal British Legion to collect donations to support and finance their work supporting and assisting those members of our Armed Forces and their families who have been wounded or injured as a result of their service in defence of the country.

This year the Appeal will be officially launched on Thursday 26th October, from that date contributions can be made to the fund by purchasing a poppy in just about every commercial enterprise in the village and from Saturday 4th November until Saturday 12th November, there will be a manned Poppy stand outside the Londis shop offering a wide range of additional popular poppy themed items, this will operate daily from 09.00hrs to 17.00hrs . To keep up with changes in modern society, contributions can be made using cash or electronic card readers on the manned stand and at the Castle Inn. In addition to the card readers, all the unmanned static collection points are now equipped with a QR Code block and are able to accept contributions via the QR Code app on mobile phones.

Please help us to continue to support the Royal British Legion in its work to help normalise the lives of those veterans whose lives have been irrevocably changed by injuries received in the course of their duties.

Thank you

Mike Ridge
