We have our last talk of the season this Tuesday (15^th )and by popular demand Andrew Negus is returning to present the second in his very popular seriesPortsmouth, “Harlots, Dung and Glory”. We will be hearing about the period 1800 – 1870 and the enormous expansion of the dockyard during the Napoleonic Wars and the consequent growth of Portsmouth. We may also be hearing about Press Gangs, the arsonist “Jack the Painter” and how King William IV brawled with a local over a pint of beer!
So, another rollicking insight into the history of Portsmouth and another one not to be missed!
We hope to see you in the Parish Hall on Tuesday at 7:30pm.
