Following our post last week promoting the discounted event at Butser Ancient Farm, we have since heard that some of you experienced difficulties gaining admission and were turned away at the gate. I have since contacted the Farm, who were shocked to hear of the problems encountered and offered the following explanation:
“Upon investigation with our weekend team we found that on the Saturday morning we had a major technical issue where our entire ticketing system went down (online and on the gate). We understand that a few people who had been queuing to buy tickets weren’t able to wait, and thus left on their own accord and we’re very sorry that these issues caused people a delay on their day. We assure you that no one was turned away, simply asked to hold tight whilst our staff worked to fix the technical issue. In the meantime, we took manual bookings to allow visitors on-site, and the system was back up and running within 30 minutes
We pride ourselves on great customer service and inclusivity, and we’re really sorry to hear that your residents had a bad experience. Due to the disruption that the A3 southbound closure caused, we’re running another discounted day during October half term (Wednesday 30th), which you’re welcome to book if you’d like to make use of this opportunity to visit us with 75% off our usual ticket price.”
I hope this addresses the problems some of you faced, and that you will take the opportunity to try again on 30th October.
