As usual the 2023 Poppy Collection opened to the usual stormy weather. However despite the weather, the village raised a record £5,916.15 for the Royal British Legion. It is difficult to overstate the generosity of the community, with a special mention to those intrepid collectors who braved the elements to the extent that not a single collecting slot was missed. It is also encouraging that the use of card reader technology has become accepted it did account for 25% of the total collected.
A sincere round of thanks is also due to those businesses who sponsored a Poppy Box on their premises, without their help we could not even to begin to raise this magnificent sum, every penny is a most welcome contribution to the Royal British Legion, a charity that really does ensure the money reaches the front line and does not get eaten up in management and other fees.
A sincere thanks to each and every one of the contributors and collectors who made this years total of £5,916.15 possible.
We have set a worthy challenge for 2024.
