Happy New Year to all from St John’s Church!
It was great to see so many from the village at our Community Carols Service on The Green the last Sunday before Christmas – impressive that so many of all ages braved those freezing winds. Thank you too for the positive feedback we received. Especial thanks are due to the RCA who sponsored the Blendworth Brass Band and erected a fine new gazebo to protect the players had it rained. Also the school PTA who loaned their sound system, the Parish Council who permitted use of the Green, and the stoic and kind Lawrence who spent three hours setting up, running and dismantling the sound system, all in very chilly weather. Thanks too to Rev Joy Windsor who led the service, having recently also stepped up to lead our Remembrance service in November.
4 things for your diary:-
Sunday 5th January at 10 am you are invited to join us for an ALL AGE SERVICE. Less formal than some other services, we particularly welcome families with youngsters, but it is also for older folk.
Monday 6th LITTLE FISHES reconvenes after the holiday. 9-11 am for bumps babes and toddlers with their mums, grans, dads and other carers. Free play, stories, crafts, snacks, singing and a great place to make new friends. In the Church Centre each Monday in term time.
Tuesday 8th at 6pm The Bishop of Portsmouth is licensing Rev Joy Windsor as Priest in Charge at Blendworth, Chalton and Idsworth Parishes, and as Horndean Missioner.
Further ahead – Rev Clare Challis is to licensed here in St John’s Rowlands Castle on Monday February 24th as Priest in Charge (part time). Further details nearer the time, but you are all invited!
Blessings for the New Year,
Daphne Youngs On behalf of St John’s Church
