Message from the Rowlands Castle Association Chair.
At the recent Annual General Meeting of the RCA, five Committee members were elected; Chris Stinton – Chair, Julia Connolly – Secretary, Caroline Hadley – Treasurer, Pete Rhymes – Vice Chair, Martha Dombey – Facebook and Grapevine Coordinator. All had previously served on the Committee in some capacity.
In the past the Committee has had considerably more members and we desperately need to recruit four or five more members to bring us up to full strength and to give us the capacity to do not only what we currently do, the Grapevine, the “Village and Valley” magazine, the RCA Facebook page, the May Day Picnic, the RCA Quiz Evening, the RCA Fireworks, village litter-picking events and others, but also to introduce new events and initiatives like the support of the Christmas Eve Carol Service on the Green where we sponsored the Blendworth Brass Band to provide a musical accompaniment.
The Committee meets monthly and if you really do wish the work of the RCA to continue into the future and think you might be able to contribute to its work and development, any of us would be happy to chat about the role or indeed welcome you to a Committee meeting, drinks and snacks provided, next one on Tuesday 9th April, to see if the role might appeal. Serving on the Committee is a great way to contribute to your Community and to get to know people in the village.
We also need more volunteers to put their names forward to help at one or more of the events referred to above in setting up, managing and putting away on the day.
