Today the Union Flag flies on the Village Green to commemorate King George VI’s Reviewing of the Troops on May 22nd 1944.
The troops were on their way to Portsmouth to set out to Europe for D DAY.
The King’s Stone, donated by Rowlands Castle Historical Society, stands on the spot in Manor Lodge Road where the King stood for the review. It is slightly to the left as you come out of Mallard Road.
