Dear Friends,

Just a gentle reminder, The Rowlands Castle History & Heritage, (RCH&H) will this weekend be exhibiting in the Church-on-the-Green on both Saturday & Sunday, from 12.00 to 3.00 as part of English Heritage Week.
This is the first time we have participated in this annual event/s, which will see similar activities across the Country. www.heritageopendays.org.uk <www.heritageopendays.org.uk>
On display will be part of the Model Railway, showing the Village as it was in May/June 1944 during the D-Day build up, where the village played a major role for the Troop deployment. To back this up, there will be Display information Boards giving details of the Build-up, Oral Histories from Residents who were living in the village as children at that time.
Further on a Military note, details of the Motte & Bailey Castle within the Village, do you know where it is? There will be Information Boards on the Castle, which date backs to over a thousand years. There will be a new Pictorial History of the Village going back decades.
Details of how to take a ‘Heritage Trail’ around the Green using your Smart Phone to read all about it’s History.
St. Huberts Church in Finchdean, will update you on their conservation activities of this remarkable Saxon Church. Children’s Activities, to entertain and stimulate their interest in all things Heritage as well. Treats for all the family.
We look forward to welcoming you all over this coming weekend.
