Dear friends
As you will know this June sees the 80th anniversary of D-Day, in effect the beginning of the end of WW2, Rowlands Castle played more than a passing role during the build up to the 6th of June that year.
We, as the Rowlands Castle History & Heritage, www.rchc.org.uk, are planning to mark this special occasion, firstly by displaying our iconic Model Railway, which depicts the Village as it was during May June 1944 plus various displays and information with relevant details of that time.
We are aiming to do this the weekend of 29/30 June, so this is where we would invite you all to check a few things. Were you living in the Village during this time or if you had living relatives who were. Do you or they have any artifacts, pictures, memorabilia etc, you could lend us to put on display. Will we of course keep any such items safe and secure at all times.
Do you have any Stories and Memories you could share with us, so we could record these for our website. Were any family or friends involved with the various voluntary groups, the Home Guard (Dad’s Army) as a example. We would love to hear from you.
Thank you, Alan Eyers Chair R.C.H.C. chair@rowlandscastleheritagecentre.org.uk _______________________________________________ Grapevine mailing list: info@rowlandscastle.com
