COMPTON FILM CLUB
Wednesday 9th April
THELMA
We didn’t have a film showing in March, but are delighted to be back this Wednesday with Thelma. This straight-talking, crime-busting granny was inspired by the director Josh Margolin’s own grandmother, played with humour and poignancy by June Squibb (her first leading role at the age of 94!) It’s a film for anyone who has been scammed before and wants to get
even with the modern world.
In homage to Tom Cruise – Thelma is Mission: Impossible, but not as we know it! This portrayal of one of the least likely action heroes is in turn a hilarious, tender and ‘ well-observed story of a grandmother refusing to accept the limitations of age … what a joy to witness it.’ The Guardian
Come and join your friends, neighbours and fellow film enthusiasts for a drink beforehand – the bar opens at 7.30pm, film starts at 8pm.
Emily, Jude, Julia, Steph and David
Compton and Up Marden School Hall, School Lane, Compton, PO18 9EZ There is plenty of parking in the school grounds, the hall and pay-bar open at 7.30pm and the film showing starts at 8pm. Tickets £6 Cash Preferred
