Hello, Just a few pointers around our Parish Church!
FAREWELL VICKIE This Sunday November 19th will be the last day Rev Vicky Morgan will be serving before moving to the Isle of Wight. Along with those from Blendworth, Chalton and Idsworth, we’ll be bidding farewell with a Holy Communion service at 10 am, followed by coffee and cakes. There will be no other Anglican services in these parishes tomorrow.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD This Sunday we will also be welcoming donations of Shoeboxes for Samaritan’s Purse. These are gift boxes filled and taken to parts of the world where children might not otherwise receive anything for Christmas, and are warmly welcomed. If you’ve not prepared one but would like to – you can ‘fill one’ on line at Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child.
THE LATE LORNA SKEET Many people who have lived in the area a while, will remember the late Rev Ted Skeet and his wife Lorna. Lorna’s funeral is to be held at St John’s church on Tuesday November 28th, at 11 am. Refreshments will be available afterwards. Donations or flowers c/o Barrells Funeral Directors, 380 London Rd Waterlooville PO7 7 TA. Donations will go to The Rosemary Foundation, a local palliative care charity.
LOOKING AHEAD The RCA have very kindly arranged for some of the Blendworth Brass Band to support the Carols on the Green service at 11 am on Christmas Eve! This is a joint service with both St John’s and The Church on the Green. Put it in your diary now… it should be real community event!
LASTLY – A WARNING! We have had a number of branches drop from the big pine tree between St John’s and the carpark over recent months. Please stay well clear especially in rough weather. Avoid parking or walking too close to it for your own safety.
