Armed Forces Day – Saturday 29th June

A reminder for your diary that there will be a short ceremony to mark Armed Forces Day on Saturday 29th June. We shall assemble at the flagpole on the Village Green at 10:45 am. Following an address by the Reviewing Officer, Captain Philip Milburn RN OBE, there will be a short commemorative service, the Last Post will be played, the Union Flag will be lowered and a two minute silence will be observed. The National Anthem will be sung to music performed by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Army Cadet Force Band who will continue to play after the ceremony. Please make every effort to attend and show support for our Armed Forces both past and present. Serving personnel are encouraged to wear uniform, veterans are invited to wear decorations.

In addition to the short service there will be a static display of current air defence equipment provided by 12 Regiment Royal Artillery., Thorney Island. There will also be a limited number of RBL official 80th Anniversary D-Day lapel pins available for a donation. Come along and show your support for our Armed Forces in these uncertain times.
