80th Anniversary of D-Day – 6th June 2024

This is a reminder that there will be a short flag lowering ceremony and a minute’s silence will be observed on the Village Green at 11:00hrs on Thursday 6th June to mark the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. The Village played an important role in this historic event when King George VI visited the village and addressed the troops at Rowlands Castle before their departure to France. if you would like to attend this brief ceremony, please feel free to assemble by the Flagpole at 10:50 on 6th June. Veterans are invited to wear decorations. There will a quantity of official Royal British Legion lapel pins available on the day.

This year’s Armed Forces Day will be celebrated with a formal ceremony on the Village Green at 11:00hrs on Saturday 29th June, there will be further details posted regarding this event prior to the day.
