A reminder that 3rd September is the nation’s annual Merchant Navy Day, the national commemoration of the contribution of merchant seafarers, marked by the ‘Fly the Red Ensign’ campaign organised by The Seafarers’ Charity (KGFS) www.theseafarerscharity.org.
Once again the village will join thousands of local authorities, public bodies, businesses and many individuals, in hoisting the Red Ensign on the Village Green flagpole at 9am, this coming Sunday.
All are welcome to join for a short mark of remembrance and thanks to UK and Commonwealth seafarers, past and present, who are out of sight and often out of mind, all over the world’s oceans.
